New Rector for St. Andrew's Episcopal to start in October
By Linda Fudala-Tucker

The Rev. C. Read Heydt, of Albany, Ga., has been chosen by the search committee to be the next rector of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. Currently the interim pastor for St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Albany, the Rev. Heydt will begin his duties on Oct. 2, said the Rev. Cappy Warner, assistant pastor in a phone interview.

"I think he is an excellent choice," said Rev. Warner from Little Compton, R.I. "The search committe headed by Barbara Hargrove did a wonderful job. I'm looking forward to working with him. He brings a lot of great experience and will be a great part of the community."

Some of that experience comes from Hudson, Ohio where he was rector at Christ Church from 1990 to 1995. "By 1990, under leadership of the Reverend Read Heydt, Rector, church membership was nearing 700 and the vestry proposed the building of a new church structure. Ground was broken in 1992, exactly 150 years after the parish was organized," reads a section on the church's website.

Warner said she so appreciated the work of the Rev. Edwin Eilertsen who served as interim pastor since last year.
