Suncoast Humane Society Director Resigns

Continued From Page 1

Parsons gave a month's notice to the board after serving 8 years as director wherein she devised protocols and procedures for running the shelter that was lauded nationwide for its service as a staging area for hundreds of lost pets after Hurricane Charley last year.

From David Garte, documentary producer for The Weather Channel: "...What we found was truly inspiring as we witnessed the tireless work of dozens of volunteers and employees at the Suncoast Humane Society...the Suncoast became a hub for hundreds of displaced animals... Our cameras caught all aspects of the shelter's operations..."

From Rick Chaboudy, executive director of the Humane Society of Pinellas: " Dear Deb, I would like to congratulate you and your entire organization on a job extremely well done..."

Parsons-Drake told the Banner that she hoped this would be an opportunity for the new board to create a new vision for the shelter.

In the meantime she said, the shelter would remain in operation as usual. "I've poured my heart and soul into this for eight years, and I want to see it continue to be a good shelter."
