Beer, wine and other beverage vendors will be on hand and many restaurants plan to be open to serve you. Vertigo will have you dancing in the street from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Raffle winners are to be announced around this time as well.

Spread the diaper in the position of the (baseball) diamond with you at bat. Then, fold second base down to home and set the baby on the pitcher's mound. Put first base and third base together, bring up home plate and pin the three together. Of course, in case of rain, you gotta call the game and start all over again.

New This Year: Two Fishing Venues

This year a new format will provide for two separate tournaments to be held over the same time period. Under the new format, up to 40 boats will fish the traditional "Pass Tournament" during the hard falling evening tides on a new moon from 3-8 pm on July 6 & 7. A separate, all-release "Beach Tournament" will fish from 6:30am - 12:00pm on July 7th & 8th. Entry fees for each tournament is $3500 (plus tax) with an 80% payout. Prizes awarded to the "Pass Tournament" winners will be based on the traditional largest fish, second largest fish and most releases.

The prizes awarded by the release only "Beach Tournament" will be based solely on number of releases. Rule changes for the 2005 "Pass Tournament" - Leader material may be steel, monofilament or fluorocarbon. Fishing times are 3pm - 8pm both days.

All New "Beach Tournament"

The Boca Grande Area Chamber of Commerce has been busy answering questions  about the format for the new Beach Tournament. Basically, this tourney is open to boats of any size using live bait or single barb, single hook artificial bait only. There will be a maximum leader length of 8 feet. Line and leader type and test strength is up to the individual angler. All weights used must be at the top of the leader.

No jigging rigs may be used. Each entering team will be responsible to supply one qualified observer for the tournament duration. Observers will be assigned to individual boats via a random drawing. Observers will be changed each day of fishing. Observers are not considered members of any team. Fishing is permitted in open waters throughout Charlotte Harbor and the Gulf Coast. The boundaries marking the Boca Grande Pass are out of bounds for the Beach Tournament. No fishing in creeks, canals, rivers and marinas. Each team will be provided a map indicating restricted areas.
