" The Dusenberg driven by Peter de Paelo in 1925, broke the 100 mph barrier and it took seven years to break that record," said Jewett. "I'm excited about it that’s for sure."Another relative was race car driver and Jewett remembers as a teenager spending time in the pit and learning the ropes of racing and mechanics, though he went to work as an executive for the Burroughs Co. in Detroit. The walls of his Boca Grande den are covered with photos including those of his grandfather and Joe Boyer. There are shelves with car models. The Jewett named after his grandfather, however, can be seen at the Sarasota Classic Car Museum. "I stopped in there and thought it was a terrific place to display the Jewett and keep some family history alive."On Monday, Jewett will be going to the museum to test the tubes in the car 's tires. "I don’t think the tubes have been changed in 25 years," he said.
