Regular and Special Quota Permit Applications

The Florida Fish and Wildlife
Conservation Commission (FWC) will be
accepting applications June 1-11 for 2005-06
regular and special quota permits to hunt on
wildlife management areas WMAs.
Regular quota hunt
applications are for hunters who seek permits
to hunt during the first nine days of the
general gun-hunting season and other general
gun hunts on some WMAs. Special quota hunt
applications are for permits to take part in
some archery or muzzleloader hunts.
Applications are now available
online at MyFWC.com/hunting. In addition,
application forms will be available from
county tax collectors’
offices,
license agents and FWC regional |
Applying for these permits is
now automated through FWC s Total Licensing
System (TLS). To apply for these permits,
visit any license agent or tax collector s
office or submit an application online at
MyFWC.com after 10 a.m. (EDT) June 1-11.
Applications for Recreational
Use permits will be available online and from
FWC regional offices June 15. These permits
are issued on a first-come, first-served basis
beginning July 15. In addition, applications
will be available July 1 for Airboat, Track
Vehicle, Youth Hunt, Blackwater WMAQuail Hunt,
Matanzas Family Hunt and Mobility-Impaired
Person Hunt permits.

tarpon since 92% of entry money will go back as prize
money. Second heaviest tarpon gets 30% and third
place, awarded for most releases, gets 20% plus the
Jay Joiner Memorial Award.
Entered teams can pick up tournament
materials at Whidden 's
Marina 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.on Sunday. South Beach
Bar and Grill will host the Captain's
Party at 6:00 p.m. that same day. Sally Joiner expects
all team leaders to meet with her at Whiddens on
Sunday.
Rules and regulations will be
explained at the party. Fishing will be from 2 to 6
p.m. both Monday and Tuesday and is live bait only.
Head judge is John Bottjer and Art Paterson is
weightmaster. Marine Max is providing the press boat.
The award party will be at the Gasparilla Inn Beach
Club starting at 7:30 p.m. Call 697-6052 for further

SunBird
Annual Kayak Festival
Outdoor
Skills, Nature Seminars & Water Events

The SunBird Kayak & Wildlife
Festival is scheduled May 21 and 22 at Stump Pass
State Park in Englewood. Admission is free. Events
begin at 8 a.m. both days, and conclude at about 4:30
p.m. Saturday, and 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
The 3-year-old SunBird Kayak Festival
has expanded to become the Third Annual SunBird Kayak
& Wildlife Festival. A number of nature related |
events-including a workshop on birding
photography taught by internationally renowned
photographer Arthur Morris, wading trips and seminars
on outdoor skills-are on the itinerary for the first
time this year.
The festival’s
traditional water-related events include four kayak
races, a kayak fishing tournament, demonstrations,
guided tours, seminars and a kayak fashion show. |

Four members of the department attended Rope I
& II Classes at the Venice Fire Academy including
Firefighters, Pat Bigness, Jeff Knowles, Dean Esposito, and
Lt.Pete Kirvin.
A CPR Class will be conducted May 23, 2005.
Class starts at 5:00 PM. The class is free, but there is a fee
of $5.00 if a Certification Card is required. Call (964-2908)

The Boca Grande Fire Department has available,
a meeting room for up to 25 people. For availability and
scheduling please contact the Fire department at 964-2908 for
your organizations needs.

arrived and are on sale now at the Boca Grande Area Chamber of
Commerce office, located in Uncle Henry's
Courtyard Plaza. The t-shirts are emblazoned with a logo
created by local artist Larry Anderson.
