A Boca Tea Party!

The After School Girls Club held their third annual Mother's Day Tea Party, Tuesday afternoon in the Woman's Club Room in the Community Center. Hats, gloves, and dollies were in attendance along with volunteers and founder of the club, Carol Lindenbaum.

Mom Kathy O'Connell shares tea with Brianna O'Connell who later told a story relating to early American history and a doll named Felicia as part of the American Girl Doll series. 

Mom, Montell Marra with daughter, Clara 6, who look lovely together surrounded by goodies that the girls mostly made themselves with the help of adult volunteers. 

Daniella Dovalle, 9, holds "Josefina" and tells a story about a Hispanic girl living in New Mexico. 

Grandmother, Judy Lutz shares tea with Sarah Lutz, and her doll, "Kelly." Sarah read about he life of "Abby" an African American who escaped from slavery. 

Even Bob Green, Community Center supervisor got into the spirit of things with Carol Lindenbaum.

Carol Lindenbaum gets a hug and kiss on the cheek by "Diva" Lynda Jamison who asked the question, "What is poise?" A hand shot up at the rear of the room, and said, "It means acting like a lady."

"Diva" Lynda Jamison delights the youngsters and some of the volunteers including, Judi Richardson, Martha Lyman, and Jane Oliver. All the volunteers including Pat Chapman, Olivia Murray, and Ginny Anderson, were called up front to receive their gifts of appreciation.

The American Girl Dolls that teach about history. The girls covered such things as the Great Depression,World War II years, as well as earlier history during the Tea Party. It was also announced that the originator of the American Doll series was going to be moving to Boca Grande, but mum's the word.

The Boca Grande Woman's Club room was awash in hats, white gloves, and teapots Tuesday. And more than tea and crumpets, the girls learned about history, about what is important. That it's not how much you have in material goods, but what good you have in your heart.
