Let's Talk Page 9

A crystal clear day with a cool breeze provided excellent fishing for the Ladies Day Tournament on Saturday. Like a finely choreographed ballet, some 46 boat captains kept the vessels in uncrowded drifting space throughout the event.

Aboard the Rip it Out, Cindy Mihevic, a native of Captiva Island chats with a teammate.

The gals aboard the Sombrero Queen II with Capt. Don Starner are annual participants in the Ladies Day and come from all over the country. Team leader, Debbie Sullivan is listed as having won twice, in 1993 and 1997. This year their red t-shirts set them apart, but still the tarpon refused to take their bait.

Capt. 'Dumplin'' Wheeler on the Chico chats with his anglers.

Cindy Mihevic has been fishing all her life. It is the fourth time she has participated in the Ladies Day tourney.

Danielle Robbins holds Kylie, 10 months old at the Ladies pre-tournament party held at the Gasparilla Inn Beach Club. Danielle was part of the Rip It Out boat team with Capt. Dean Watson.

"Dumplin's Dolls" pictured here during the pre-tourney party include: Sandy Mola, Gayle Crowell, Angela Curley, and Diane Todd. Beth Perkins, an annual volunteer who fished on a different boat, also smiled for the camera.

Toni and Capt. Rich Caccavale of the winning boat, Moonraker take a moment out to smile. Toni fished on another boat.
