Lakeland Artist Takes Top Spot in Ladies Day Art Contest

Lakeland artist, Sandra Goolsby took the top prize for the art she created for the 2006 Ladies Day Tarpon Tournament coming up on May 13. "It was a difficult contest with eight entries," said Craig Lutz, Executive Director, Boca Grande Area Chamber of Commerce. "The tourney is filled, but we still need a couple more boat captains."

The Ladies Day Committee served as judges and included Sandy Burkhart, Lidija Migliaccio, Monica Clay, Pat Oberg, and Eileen O'Connor.

Goolsby, a Florida native who lives in Lakeland has been coming to the area several times a year to fish. She is retired after 27 years as a Business Analyst for Publix Supermarkets, Inc. "I have been painting watercolors for approximately 15 years. I love to paint tropical birds and flowers, shells


and beach scenes. My artwork can be seen at the Serendipity Gallery in Boca Grande where I have been for the past 10 plus years," says Goolsby.
