| year to attend meetings in order to
have a quorum. They are all appointed by Commissioner Janes, said
Gonzalez.
"Generally the Commissioners like to appoint a cross section of the population as the committee is responsible to represent the interest and will of the whole community," said Gonzalez. Gonzalez said the meetings are subject to Florida Sunshine law and will be advertised. The protocol is that the Committee nominates and votes for the Chair and Vice Chair, then the chair will appoint a secretary to take minutes. Gail Orio from the Lee County Public Resources Office will be the Lee County liaison to the committee, but will NOT necessarily attend all the meetings. |
Scott Trebatoski and/or assigned
staff from Animal Service will work with Public Resources and the
committee on an ADVISORY level.
As soon as a quorum of appointments are made a meeting will be scheduled to discuss: 1) the Advisory Committee’s duties and responsibilities, and 2) The first order of business at the meeting following the appointments of the chair, vice chair, and secretary will be to discuss the utilization of Dr. Jackson and hopefully get some consensus on initiating a program. "We are working with Dr. Jackson and will ask him to attend the meeting as well," she said. Applications are available at the Johann Fust Community Library where advisory board |
applications are also available for
the Boca Grande Historic Preservation board. Those forms include a
financial disclosure page. The meetings of the committee will be
held in public with input assisting in establishing the level of
service and hence amount of taxes to be used for both lighting and
exotic animal species (iguana) control. Recommendations from the
committee are then submitted to county commissioners during the
annual budget process.
